Frogs and Raiders meet for fourth consecutive year
FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 8-ranked TCU equestrian team hosts Texas Tech in an exhibition meet this Friday at 10 a.m. This will mark the first competition for the Frogs at Diamond Creek Ranch, with the first official event set for next Thursday against South Dakota State.
DIRECTOR OF EQUESTRIAN HALEY SCHOOLFIELD
"Hosting Texas Tech is a great way for us to get back into the routine of competing for both our student-athletes and our equine athletes. It shows us where we are strong and where we need to improve. Tech is a great competitor and we look forward to hosting them each year."
THE SERIES
TCU is 4-0 all-time against Texas Tech with its greatest margin of victory coming last season when it won 14-1.
SCOUTING THE FROGS
The Frogs bring a wide mix of experience into the scrimmage, boasting a pair of seniors in Fences, and 10 freshmen total.
The Frogs look to seniors Courtney May and Misty Redd in Fences to lead the pairing that also includes Bri Gonzalez, Jacey Albaugh and freshman Olivia Parr. Albaugh saw five meets last season in Fences, with most of her time coming in Flat.
The Flat slate brings two sophomores and three freshmen. Lily Geelan and Brooke Matson bring the sophomore experience, while Lanie Walkenbach, Catherine Shurtleff and Jordan Guilmart get their first taste of collegiate equestrian. Returners Niki Barnes and Jacey Albaugh look to get on track as they are both tabbed to demo for the event.
Fresh off a runner-up in last year's finals, the Horsemanship group has three freshman in the lineup. One of the deepest events with talent for the Frogs names Drew Rogers, Anna Hauter, Mattie Dukes, Alexis Cook and Mady Buchanan for the scrimmage.
TCU has scheduled the most freshmen to compete in Reining - four to be in fact, as Mady Buchanan, Elizabeth Clymer, Maddie Prithcett and Kaitlyn Baker climb in the saddle for the first time for the Frogs. Skylar Smith will lead the group into action as she gets set to start her sophomore campaign.
