Brian tallies fourth goal of the season
DALLAS – Gracie Brian's goal in the 56th minute was the lone tally as TCU handed No. 25 SMU its first loss of the season. Emily Alvarado made eight saves, including five in the second half, to lock up the Horned Frogs third straight shutout.
The Rundown
The team's played to a scoreless draw in the first half. TCU carried the bulk of the play early in the half, but SMU turned the tables in the second part of the half. At the break, the Mustangs held an 8-3 shot advantage.
SMU came out with a big push in the second half. Emily Alvarado made a shoulder stop in the 53thminute after a Mustang forward broke free and was alone inside the six.
TCU rewarded her efforts in the 56thminute on Brian's tally. Tara Smith carried the ball down the sideline. Her cross deflected off an SMU defender right to the foot of Brian. Her quick strike eluded the diving goalkeeper for the lone tally of the match.
