FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – TCU had its best round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championship Sunday and moved up 10 places to 10th to advance to Monday's fourth-and-final stroke play round at Blessings Golf Club.
The Horned Frogs began the day in 20th place and with just 15 teams advancing, they had some work to do. By the end of the day, only two teams had a better round than the Frogs' even-par 288 and TCU finished seven strokes ahead of the cut line.
Stefano Mazzoli was one of three Frogs that had their best round of the tournament Sunday. The senior had just three bogeys and five birdies throughout the challenging Northwest Arkansas course and shot 2-under 70. He moved up 43 places and is tied for 34th at 6-over 222.
David Ravetto matched Saturday's score of even-par 72. He made three birdies on the front nine to shoot 2-under 34.
Hayden Springer also had his best round of the tournament shooting an even-par 72. The senior had his second eagle of the tournament, this time on the par 5, No. 10 hole, which was the hole TCU started on. Both Springer and Ravetto are tied for 53rd place with a score of 8-over 224.
Turner MacLean shot 1-over 73 for his best round of the championships. At 10-over 226, the Fort Worth native is tied for 65th place.
The Frogs will tee-off at 11:55 a.m. Monday on hole No. 10 with Ohio State and Pepperdine in the final round of stroke play. The top eight after Monday will advance to match play, which begins on Tuesday.
Golf Channel will broadcast the final round 3-7 p.m. on Monday. Live scoring can be found at GolfStat.com. GoFrogs.com will have full recaps after each day of competition. Follow the Frogs all tournament long on Twitter and Instagram.
