Springer leads the Frogs
LAS VEGAS – TCU moved up one spot on Tuesday to finish tied for seventh place at the Southern Highlands Collegiate.
Senior Hayden Springer led the Frogs as he tied for 14th place at 2-under 214. Springer played a bogey-free round on Tuesday at the Southern Highlands Golf Club and shot a TCU best 4-under 68.
Senior Stefano Mazzoli shot his second-straight sub-70 round with a 3-under 69. He shot 4-under 32 on the front nine with the help of an eagle on the par 5 No. 3 hole. For the tournament, Mazzoli shot even-par 216 and finished tied for 21st.
As a team, TCU tied with the host school, UNLV, at 1-under 863. The Frogs defeated seven schools including No. 6 ranked USC (+8), No. 13 Pepperdine (+10) and No. 7 Auburn (+17). Teams from the Big 12 took up three of the top four spots in the tournament. No. 11 Oklahoma (-14) won the event while No. 8 Texas (-13) was second and No. 18 Texas Tech (-8) was fourth.
TCU will next play at the Lake Charles Invitational in Lake Charles, La., March 18-19.
