
TCU Bounces Back With 19-3 Win

TCU pounds out season-high 21 hits.
The Rundown
TCU wasted little time taking a commanding lead as it scored seven times on five hits in the first. The offense was helped along by four walks and an error. Austin Henry's bases-loaded single gave the Frogs a 2-0 lead. Johnny Rizer singled in another run and a wild pitch gifted the Frogs a fourth run. After an error allowed another run to score, Josh Watson's two-run single made it a 7-0 game.
The Frogs added a pair of runs in each of the next two innings to open up an 11-0 lead. Andrew Keefer drove home two runs in the second and Henry picked up his second two-run single in the third.
Another seven run inning followed in the fourth. An error opened the frame followed by back-to-back singles to load the bases. Watson drove in his third run of the game with a sacrifice fly. RBI singles from Alex Isola, Jake Guenther and Henry followed. Rizer's double made it a 16-0 game. Keefer and Hunter Wolfe drove in the final two runs in the inning to make it an 18-0 game.
The Lumberjacks cracked the scoreboard in the eighth with a trio of walks. SFA picked up their runs on a wild pitch, a passed ball and a ground out.
TCU's final run was scored on an RBI-double from Dean Frew.
Haylen Green (1-0) tossed five shutout innings, allowing two hits, walking two and striking out five. Matt Rudis tossed a perfect sixth in his collegiate debut. Marcelo Perez closed out the game with a perfect ninth.
Stat of the Game:
21 – TCU pounded out 21 hits in the contest. It's the most hits in a game since the Horned Frogs had 22 against Southern Illinois on Feb. 14, 2015.
