TCU Equestrian Has 18 Tabbed to Academic All-Big 12 Team

FORT WORTH, Texas – A program-record 18 student-athletes from the TCU equestrian squad have been named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team, as announced by the conference Wednesday. The Horned Frogs had 13 first-team selections and five honored on the second team.
Junior Laska Anderson led the way for TCU as one of just four student-athletes from the entire league to be nominated with a 4.00 grade-point average.
The previous TCU record for most Academic All-Big 12 selections was 12, set in 2016.
First Team
Joining Anderson on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team are Jamie Cook, Emma Edwards, Kathleen Harrigan, Anna Hauter, Janelle Henningsen, Elena Hurd, Marah Huston, Carly Lombard, Courtney May, Josie Mootz, Jada Taylor and Grace Upshaw. A standout in the class room, Anderson is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree and recently earned the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award as well.
The award is the fourth of Huston's career after previously earning All-Big 12 Rookie Team accolades in 2016, second-team honors in 2017 and a spot on the first team a year ago. Hurd, Lombard and Mootz are all claiming Big 12 academic awards for the third time in their respective careers, while this is the second honor for Edwards, Harrigan, Hauter, Henningsen and May. This is the first academic award for Cook, Taylor, Upshaw.
Second Team
TCU also had five selections to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team this season in Alex Beneson, Olivia Cerino, Kassi Jones, Raegan Rast and MG Reed. This is Jones' second time being named to the Big 12's second team, while Rast was on the league's rookie squad last year. This is the first academic award for Beneson, Cerino and Reed.
