Frogs held to just one hit
HOUSTON -- The No. 16 TCU Horned Frogs couldn't solve the Texas A&M pitching staff Saturday night as it dropped a 1-0 contest to the Aggies in the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic.
The Rundown
Brandon Williamson turned in another quality start for the Horned Frogs, holding the Aggies to a run on two hits. He walked three and struck out five over five innings of work. Jake Eissler pitched the final four innings, giving up just two hits. He struck out three.
The lone run of the game came in the third as the Aggies took advantage of a trio of walks. After Allonte Wingate singled with one out, three straight walks brought him home for the 1-0 lead.
Seven times the Frogs had the lead-off batter on in the game, but each time Aggie starter Asa Lacy was able to strand the runner. Two runners were caught trying to advance to second base, while a double play erased another. Hunter Wolfe's infield single in the sixth was the lone hit of the game for the Frogs.
In the ninth, Josh Watson walked to open the frame. A two-out leaping catch by the second baseman on a ball ticketed for right center off the bat of Alex Isola ended the game.
