
Horned Frogs Fall at Rice

TCU ended its road swing with a loss at Rice on Wednesday.
HOUSTON, Texas – The TCU women's tennis team ended its road trip by dropping a 6-0 decision to Rice on Wednesday afternoon at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston.
The Horned Frogs (5-2) and the Owls (3-2) went to battle in doubles and split the bottom two courts with the doubles point coming down to a tiebreaker on court one. Kate Paulus and Mercedes Aristegui got their first victory over a ranked opponent as the duo upset No. 35 Anastasia Smirnova and Priya Niezgoda, 6-4, on court two. Ellie Douglas and Aleksa Cveticanin went point-for-point on court one, but Rice ultimately came out on top in the tiebreaker, 7-5, to take the doubles point.
Rice took the momentum into singles action as the Owls grabbed the opening set on five of the six courts. TCU could not come back as Rice would go on to win five of the singles matches and finish out the overall match victory, 6-0.
