Offensive tackle has made a TCU record 5 Super Bowl trips
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Former TCU offensive tackle Marcus Cannon earned his third Super Bowl championship ring as the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams, 13-3, in Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta.
Cannon started at right tackle for the Patriots. His three Super Bowl championship rings tie Larry Brown for the most by a Horned Frog. Brown earned three rings with the Dallas Cowboys and was the Super Bowl XXX Most Valuable Player after his two interceptions in a 27-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Cannon's five Super Bowl trips in his eight seasons with the Patriots are the most by a Horned Frog.
Cannon has started every game he's played for the Patriots over the last three seasons. A four-year letterman (2007-10) at TCU, Cannon was a three-time all-conference offensive tackle who earned All-America honors as a senior on the Horned Frogs' Rose Bowl championship team. TCU was 36-3 in his final three seasons. Cannon was also all-conference in track and field, finishing second in the shot put with a mark of 54-10 at the 2009 Mountain West Championships.
Nine different Horned Frogs have been on Super Bowl championship teams in the last 13 seasons. Twenty Horned Frogs have won Super Bowl championship rings.
