
Horned Frogs Take Down Auburn in Big 12/SEC Challenge

Jaycee Bradley scores season-high 24 points in home win
FORT WORTH – Senior Jaycee Bradley scored a season-high 24 points and junior Lauren Heard chipped in with 21 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double to lead the TCU Horned Frogs past the Auburn Tigers, 80-65, Saturday afternoon in the Big 12/SEC Challenge at Schollmaier Arena.
THE RUNDOWN
TCU took a nine-point lead into the second quarter only to see Auburn come back and tie the game at 24-24. The Horned Frogs stopped the 13-2 Tiger run with a pair of free throws from Heard and then a lay-up from Jayde Woods. TCU would later score 14 straight points to take a 44-31 lead into the break.
The Horned Frogs outscored the Tigers 20-16 in the third quarter to take a 17-point lead into the final quarter and led by as many as 25 points midway through the final period before closing with a 15-point victory.
Auburn totaled two ties in the game at 5-5 and 24-24, but the Tigers would go the entire game without securing a lead.
Bradley led all TCU players with her 24 points as she tied a season-high with five three-pointers made. Heard pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds and notched her first career double-double with a 21-point game.
The Horned Frogs moved to 7-0 on the season, while Auburn dropped to 4-5.
STAT OF THE GAME
23 and .697 – The Horned Frogs drained a season-high 23 free throws, while also netting a season-best .697 percent from the charity stripe. Heard led the way with a 10-for-10 effort from the free throw line.
UP NEXT
TCU is back on the road next week as the team heads to College Station to take on Texas A&M next Wednesday, Dec. 11. Tip-off between the Horned Frogs and Aggies is set for 7 p.m. at Reed Arena.

• Lauren Heard notched her first career double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. The 10 rebounds are a season-high and it marks the first double-digit rebounding effort since her 12 rebounds against Arizona last season. She has 20+ scoring efforts in back-to-back games and three times overall this season. She drained new season and career-highs of 10 free throws in the game. Heard also eclipsed the 20 point mark in back-to-back games becoming the first Horned Frog to do so since Amy Okonkwo tallied three straight 20-point efforts last season (3/28/19 to 4/3/19)
• Becky Obinma registered new career-highs in points (8) and rebounds (6). She also registered her third block of the season.
