The loss brings a close to the 2019 regular season
WACO, Texas -- TCU volleyball couldn't keep pace with No. 1 Baylor Saturday afternoon inside the Ferrell Center, falling to the Bears: 25-19, 25-18, 25-14. The win secured a share of the Big 12 championship for Baylor.
"I'm proud of our team for the progress we've made this season. We have not seen the results we've wanted to on the scoreboard, but any coach with a team full of youth understands that growth is a process and takes time, commitment and grit. Our team has come to the gym with energy and enthusiasm day-in and day-out and grown in their knowledge and play daily. We'll keep climbing."
TCU NOTABLES:
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1 (BU, 25-19): Baylor jumped out to a 7-2 lead in front of its home crowd. The Frogs did well, responding with a 4-0 run off of a kill from Manyang and two blocks from Waggle to cut the lead to 10-8. TCU maintained its composure and would get within one point as late as 17-18 but a late Bear run put a crooked number on the board after one.
Set 2 (BU, 25-18): Both teams exchanged blows in the early going with BU holding the lead, 11-9. Manyang, McCall and Waggle offered resistance but the steady attack from Baylor took over and set was won by the home team.
Set 3 (BU, 25-14): Another hot start from Baylor prompted another rebound from TCU. A 4-0 Horned Frog run brought the score to 9-11 but Baylor would go on a run from there, closing out the match. McCall led the team with four kills and block in the set.
