Messiah Bright scores twice for the Frogs
FORT WORTH – A four-goal outburst in the first half set TCU on the path to victory as the Horned Frogs topped Kansas State 4-0 on Thursday at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. Messiah Bright scored twice, while Tatum Condrey and Haley Mallion also tallied goals. Emily Alvarado made six saves to record her sixth shutout of the season.
The Rundown
An early corner for the Horned Frogs proved fruitful as they raced out to an early 1-0 lead. Grace Collins' feed was headed down by Tatum Condrey. Messiah Bright tapped home the goal in the third minute.
Another corner kick just over four minutes later translated to another TCU goal and a 2-0 advantage. This time Condrey headed in Collins' pass for her first of the season in the eighth minute.
In the 30th minute, Gracie Brian made a perfect lead pass that Bright had no problem catching up to. She fired home her second goal of the morning from 20 yards out to make it 3-0 contest.
Haley Mallion capitalized on a similar play in the final minute of the first half as she took Yazmeen Ryan's pass and deposited it in the back of the goal for a 4-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, the Wildcats tested Emily Alvarado and the Frogs defense as they tried to get on the board. Kansas State outshot the Frogs 10-6, but Alvarado made all five stops she needed to in the final frame to preserve the shutout.
