IRVING, Texas – TCU senior guard Desmond Bane earned his second preseason honor in as many days when he was named Preseason All-Big 12 on Wednesday.
Bane is the second TCU player in the four years that Jamie Dixon has been head coach to be named one of the top five players on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. Bane, the Big 12's top returning scorer, averaged 15.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season as a junior. The Richmond, Ind., native was named All-Big 12 Second Team by the Big 12 coaches and Associate Press and was USBWA All-District VII. His career-high of 34 points came in a 69-56 win at Texas on March 9, 2019, which was the most by a TCU player since 2012.
Along with Bane, others selected to the Preseason All-Big 12 team were Preseason Player of the Year Udoka Azubuike (Kansas), Tristan Clark (Baylor), Devon Dotson (Kansas) and Tyrese Haliburton (Iowa State). Chris Clarke (Texas Tech) was selected as the Preseason Newcomer of the Year and Oscar Tshiebwe (West Virginia) was named Preseason Freshman of the Year.
