Alvarado, Song earn the award for September
FORT WORTH – Jonathan Song from football and Emily Alvarado from women's soccer have been named TCU's Scholar-Athletes of the Month of September.
Song, who graduated with an entrepreneurial management degree and is working toward a masters' degree in supply chain certificate program, has led the Horned Frogs kicking game this season. The Fort Worth native opened the season making a career-high five field goals, tied for the second-most in a game in program history. He was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance. Song has made 10 of his 11 attempts on the season (91%) including a season long 40-yard field goal. He is also a perfect 20-20 on PATs this season.
Song and the football team travel to take on Kansas State on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m. The game will be televised on FSN.
Alvarado, a junior double majoring in entrepreneurial management business information systems, helped lead the Frogs to a 6-3-1 record in the month of September in which they received the No. 17 National Ranking. The El Paso, Texas native recorded four shutouts and a total of 35 saves during that stretch. Alvarado began the month by collecting Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors and she currently leads the conference with 50 saves so far this season.
Alvarado and the women's soccer team are back in action when they play at Texas Tech on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
