FORT WORTH – The Horned Frogs are set to travel to Annapolis, Md. for their first road match of the 2018-19 season where they will compete against No. 10 Navy and the VMI men's and women's squads.
Both the Frogs and VMI competed last weekend while this match marks the opening of the season for Navy. VMI is coming off a 4,525-4,421 loss to The Citadel.
TCU leads the nation with an aggregate average of 4,708. VMI has a season average of 4,421 which is good for fourth in the NCAA heading into this weekend's matchup. The Frogs also have the top average mark in smallbore (2,327) and air rifle (2,381).
The Frogs feature ten of the top eleven aggregate shooters in the NCAA after the first weekend of competition.
In air rifle, TCU boasts the top three shooters. Rachel Garner leads the Frogs and the nation with a 599 average. Casey Lutz's 597 is second nationally, followed by Elizabeth Marsh's 594 in third. VMI is led by Liat Bell who sits 21st nationally with an average of 568.
The Horned Frogs also own the top eight shooters in smallbore. Garner once again leads the nation with a 587 average. Marsh (582), Angeline Henry (581), Kristen Hemphill (580), Rachel Kimbell (580), Casey Lutz (578), Noelle Christensen (576), and Catherine Miller (573) round out the top eight in the NCAA. VMI's top smallbore shooter, John Pitman, ranks sixteenth nationally with an average of 561.
