- Since 2005, TCU is 5-5 in its last 10 games versus top-five ranked opponents with only two of those contests at home.
- ESPN's College GameDay will take place on the TCU campus Saturday morning. The Horned Frogs are 6-0 all-time when GameDay has been present, the most wins by any school without a loss in the show's history. TCU is hosting GameDay for the second straight year and third time overall.

- The Horned Frogs' honorary captains for Saturday will be TCU greats Jack Spikes and LaDainian Tomlinson. Spikes was an All-America fullback (1957-59) who scored a touchdown in TCU's 18-14 win at Ohio State in 1957, while Tomlinson is in the College Football and Pro Football Hall of Fame. He serves on the TCU Board of Trustees.
- Patterson is the only active college football head coach to have coached a Pro Football Hall of Famer (Tomlinson) at his current school.
