Mazzoli became the fourth different TCU men's golfer to earn All-Big 12 honors, the first since Paul Barjon in 2016. Julien Brun (2013, 2014) and Pontus Gad (2013) were the other two. TCU joined the Big 12 during the 2012-13 season.
Mazzoli, ranked as the No. 28 player in the nation by GolfWeek and No. 30 by GolfStat, has led the Horned Frogs this season with an average score of 70.52 and -0.94 vs. par. He has posted scores of sub-70 in 10 rounds including two rounds of 7-under 65. In Mazzoli's 31 rounds of golf this season, he has shot par or better 24 times. In his last four tournaments, Mazzoli has three top five finishes including a first-place finish at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Feb. 27.
The All-Big 12 honor is the latest recognition for the Montorfano, Italy native. Mazzoli was named a semifinalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award on Tuesday, which goes to the Golf Coaches Association of America Collegiate Player of the Year. On March 14, it was announced Mazzoli would compete for the international team at the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup.
The Big 12 Golfer of the Year was Fredrick Nilehn of Texas Tech and the Newcomer of the Year was Matthew Wolff of Oklahoma State. Oklahoma's Ryan Hybl was selected as Big 12 Coach of the Year.
