
TCU's Evens Series With 10-4 Win

The Rundown
Coby Boulware used his legs to get the Frogs on the board in the first inning. He singled to open the frame and stole two bases before eventually scoring on a groundout off the bat of Michael Landestoy for a 1-0 lead. Josh Watson delivered a two-out, bases-loaded single in the second to extend the TCU lead to 3-0.
Two more runs came around to score in the third. Landestoy opened the inning with a doubled and scored on a Connor Wanhanen groundout. Walks to Zach Humphreys and Adam Oviedo set the table for Conner Shepherd, who delivered a two-out single to right for a 5-0 lead.
A two out rally by West Virginia in the top of the fourth got the Mountaineers back in the game. Ivan Gonzalez's three run home run made it a 5-3 ballgame. But the Frogs responded with two more runs in the bottom of the frame. A walk to Watson started the inning and he eventually scored on a Landestoy base hit. With the bases loaded, Humphreys bounced into a double play to make it a 7-3 ballgame.
The teams traded runs in the sixth. West Virginia scored on a solo home run from Kyle Gray, but a two-out base hit from Wanhanen drove in Johnny Rizer to restore the fourrun lead, 8-4.
Shepherd led off the seventh with a home run to right. Three walks loaded the bases and Humphreys picked up a hard-earned RBI as he was plunked on the back to account for the final score of 10-4.
Jake Eissler (5-1) was solid in his second start of the season. The sophomore allowed four runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out five. Charles King pitched the final 3 1/3 innings to earn his first save of the season. He allowed just one hit and struck out two.

FORT WORTH – TCU scored early and often in picking up a 10-4 victory over West Virginia on Saturday afternoon to even the series a game apiece. Nine Horned Frogs tallied a hit and five drove in a run in the victory.
