Stalder served it out on court four to put TCU within a point of the overall team victory as the junior got his eighth straight victory of the season with a 6-1, 6-4 win. Senior and No. 114 Guillermo Nuñez was able to clinch the overall team victory for TCU as he topped his opponent on court three, 7-5, 6-3.
Quotes from the Match
Head Coach David Roditi
"At this point, all wins are great wins. Today was a great win. Utah State is a team that has won nine in a row and their conference. Coach (James) Wilson has done an unbelievable job with that program not just this year but since he arrived. They fight and they beat us last year. Great win for us and our team was led by upperclassmen. They did what they needed to do. It was a great win and a great performance at No. 3 doubles by the freshmen Eduardo (Roldan) and Max (Kurzban). We are alive and we have a shot tomorrow.
"There are some things we need to tighten up at this point. We are still making mistakes that are not acceptable in postseason and hopefully we can get better from today to tomorrow. Please come and support us. We appreciate everyone who came out today. It was beautiful, hot and breezy out here and it can't get any better. We hope for a lot of support and see if our fans and our community can help us get to the Sweet 16 in Winston-Salem, N.C., which has been a huge goal of ours. This would be only the third time in the history of TCU that players like Trevor (Johnson) and Guillermo (Nuñez) make it four years in a row to the Sweet 16. Come and support us."
