FORT WORTH, Texas - In the final home weekend of the season, the TCU women's tennis team fought hard but came up short to No. 6 Texas as the Longhorns came away with a 4-0 win on Friday night at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.
The doubles portion of the match started outside, but a lightning delay followed by a rain delay forced the match to be finished indoors. The Horned Frogs (9-10, 0-4 Big 12) battled hard on all three courts, but the Longhorns (15-4, 5-0 Big 12) were able to power through and take the wins on courts two and three to get the early lead.
Texas carried that momentum into singles action with first set wins on four of the five courts in action, but TCU did not back down as they fought back in the second sets. It proved to be too little, too late for the Frogs as the Longhorns were able to get straight-set victories on courts one, three and four to secure the overall team win. Before the match was called, TCU was leading on the final three courts that were still in action.
