FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's tennis team will begin postseason action by heading to Austin, Texas for the 2018 Big 12 Tournament that will run from April 26-29 at the Texas Tennis Center on the campus of Texas.
The Horned Frogs (12-13), who are the No. 8 seed in the tournament, will take on the No. 9 seed West Virginia Mountaineers (7-13) on Thursday at 10 a.m., in the first round that will air live on Big12Sports.com. This marks the first time facing West Virginia in the postseason with TCU holding a 6-0 mark against the Mountaineers all-time.
Tickets & Clear Bag Policy
Tickets for the championship will be available at the Texas Tennis Center one hour prior to the first match each day. All-session passes for adult are $15 and $10 for children and students. Single session general admission tickets are $5 with cash and credit cards accepted. Please note that a clear bag policy is in effect at all Texas Athletics venues. All bags larger than 4.5" x 6.5", including purses and diaper bags, must be clear plastic and no larger than 12" x 6" x 12".
TCU Notables
TCU enters the weekend with three straight victories after picking up a 4-1 win over Texas State and sweeps of Iowa State and West Virginia to wrap-up the regular season. With the wins, TCU has ended the regular season winning three of its final four matches for the third straight season.
Aleksandra Zenovka continues to hold down a singles ranking for the Frogs at No. 124 in this week's Oracle/ITA poll. Zenovka is one of six players with double-digit wins on the season with 17 victories and three over ranked opponents. Marie Norris has won her last six straight matches and boasts a team-best 20-6 record in singles action. Senior Donika Bashota is one win away from reaching 100 career singles victories and has 19 wins so far this season. In doubles, the duo of Zenovka and Aleksa Cveticanin are on a three-match winning streak and lead the team with seven victories. Bashota and fellow senior Alexis Pereira have won the last two straight matches and are 6-2 in dual matches with four wins at the No. 1 position.
Scouting the Mountaineers
West Virginia has seven wins on the season and picked up the first Big 12 victory in program history with a 4-1 win over Iowa State. Giovanna Caputo and Lyn Yuen Choo lead the Mountaineers with eight wins each in singles action. Choo pairs up with Paula Goetz for the team lead in doubles with nine victories, while Caputo has seven wins with Anne-Sophie Courteau.
