TORRANCE, Calif. – While most of the TCU track and field team had the weekend off, a pair of distance runners went out to California for the Mt. Sac Relays on Saturday. Also competing was TCU alum and former national champion Ronnie Baker.
Making his outdoor season debut in the 100m, Baker took home the win with a personal-best 9.97, his third career wind-legal sub-10 second mark of his career. Baker's first career sub-10 second mark came at last year's Mt. Sac Relays when he ran 9.99. TCU has the most former student-athletes of any university in the sub-10 club.
Evelyn Mandel made her collegiate debut in the 5000m, where she finished in 16:27.80. Her time ranks third in the Big 12. Nicole Hicks ran the 10,000m, finishing in 36.53.56.
TCU returns to action next weekend at the National Relay Championship, hosted by the University of Arkansas. The meet is scheduled for April 27-28.
