FORT WORTH, Texas - Conference action for the TCU women's tennis team will continue on the road as the Horned Frogs travel to Lubbock, Texas to take on No. 17 Texas Tech on Saturday, March 31.
The Frogs (9-8, 0-2 Big 12) and the Red Raiders (12-4, 1-1 Big 12) will face-off at Noon at the McLeod Tennis Center.
TCU Notables
TCU opened Big 12 action last weekend with two tough battles against ranked opponents from Kansas State and Kansas. The Frogs dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 decision on Friday to the Wildcats before falling 4-1 to the Jayhawks on Sunday.
In the most recent Oracle/ITA rankings, Aleksandra Zenovka leads the way with a No. 84 ranking and has 16 wins on the season. Marie Norris pulls in a No. 114 singles rankings with 14 victories including eight wins in dual matches. Donika Bashota paces the team with 18 wins in singles action including victories in her last two straight matches. On the doubles side, Norris pairs with Stevie Kennedy as the duo lead the team with a 6-1 mark. Bashota and Elizabeth Kennedy hold the team's only doubles rankings at No. 71 with five wins on the year.
Scouting the Red Raiders
Texas Tech has picked up the victory in three of its last five matches with sweeps of Cornell (7-0) and Kansas State (4-0), before scoring the 4-1 win over Tulsa on Wednesday. Four players hold the singles and doubles rankings for the Red Raiders with Gabriela Talaba and Felicity Maltby sitting at No. 11 and No. 41, respectively, in singles and pairing up for a No. 68 doubles ranking. Sabrina Federici is ranked No. 78 and Sarah Dvorak checks in at No. 85 with the duo also pulling in a No. 8 doubles ranking.
All-Time Series Records
TCU and Texas Tech will be facing off for the 36th time in program history on Saturday and will be taking on the Red Raiders for the second time this season after meeting up for a nonconference match earlier this season. The Frogs hold the overall advantage in the series at 28-7 with three wins in the last six meetings. TCU is 9-4 against Texas Tech in matches played in Lubbock with the Frogs holding a 3-2 advantage in matches played as conference opponents.
