Three Frogs honored with Big 12 Rider of the Month Honors
IRVING, Texas – The awards came rolling in for TCU equestrian Tuesday as Jamie Cook, Janelle Henningsen and Elena Hurd were all honored by the Big 12 as Riders of the Month.
"What an honor for TCU riders in each event to be awarded Big 12 Rider of the Month accolades," TCU Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield said. "Each of these athletes competed home and away against tough competitors and came through without a loss. That is tough to do with our schedule and we are so proud of these Frogs."
This award comes as the second of the month for Cook, who was named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Shorty's Horsemanship Rider of the Month last week. Cook had a stellar month, winning both of her points by an average score of 4.0. She tied her career-high and set a season-best mark of 77 in the victory over Oklahoma State, where she earned Most Outstanding Performer, her second in a row dating back to October. Cook closed out the fall with a 73.5-70.5 victory over SMU to earn her third-consecutive win.
It was the first award of Henningsen's career as she continued a strong 2018 campaign in November, riding to a 72-67 win versus Oklahoma State on Nov. 2. She also earned a hard-fought tie, 82-82, against SMU. Henningsen is undefeated on the fall season, boasting a 3-0-2 record.
Hurd went 2-0 in November, winning 68.5-64.5 and 69.5-66 over Oklahoma State and SMU, respectively. Hurd capped off a perfect fall campaign this month, showcasing an impressive 5-0 record and one Most Outstanding Performer award. Hurd has been a staple for the Frogs all year in the Western arena and she has showed up when the Frogs needed her most, coming up with big points to kick off each meet.
