WACO, Texas – Following a strong month in which she was undefeated, Jamie Cook has been named the Shorty's Horsemanship Rider of the Month for November.
Cook, a junior communication studies major from Fort Collins, Colo., earned the National Collegiate Equestrian Association's honor for the first time in her career.
She began the month with a 77-72 win over Oklahoma State's Maddie Bender on Jethro. Her 77 tied a career high mark and was good enough for a Most Outstanding Performer accolade (and the second in a row dating back to Oct. 27). In her second ride of the month, Cook won, 73.5-70.5, over SMU's Aubrey Alderman on Decker.
"Jamie earned the November Horsemanship Rider of the Month through consistent, clean, confident runs every time she walked in the arena," director of equestrian Haley Schoolfield said. "We look for Jamie to continue to set the standard through spring and postseason competition."
This accolade will put a bow on the Frogs' fall season as the team finishes out the semester. TCU will be back in action Jan. 31 when it takes on West Texas A&M in the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo where Cook will compete in the nightcap at the John Justin Arena.
