Clark is tied for third individually at 4 under
SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Annika Clark carded a pair of 70s to lead TCU into first place after Sunday's opening two rounds of the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas.
The Horned Frogs, who won the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in their previous tournament, hold a 5-stroke lead over Florida State heading into Monday's final round. TCU is at 9-under-par 567.
Quote of the Day
"I'm so proud of this team's calm confidence and intentional focus and diligence," TCU women's golf coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. "They were relaxed, yet competitive all day. Playing 36 holes is always tough physically and mentally, but our strength and conditioning program with Woody (senior assistant strength and conditioning coach Michael Wood) prepares them for these days."
The Horned Frogs
Clark is tied for third individually, four strokes off the pace set by Florida State's Frida Kinhult. The lone senior in the TCU lineup, Clark had an eagle on the 14th hole in the opening round and nine birdies on the day. Bruner posted her fourth eagle of the season in the opening round, en route to a 72.
Sabrina Iqbal, who was a co-medalist at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational, recorded a second-round 68 and is tied for seventh. The freshman from San Jose, Calif., had five birdies and shot par on 12 holes. It was her second 68 in her last four rounds.
Grace Do had a career-best 69, highlighted by four birdies in a seven-hole stretch, in first-round play. The sophomore from Coppell, Texas, is tied for 12th.
