TCU QUOTES
TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson
On the loss to Texas Tech:
"There's only one person to blame, and it's me. I line up two big plays. You have to give them credit. They made the plays they needed to at the end and we did not."

"There is only one person to blame because we had a week and a half to get these guys ready, and obviously, we did not on offense, and we gave up too many plays on defense."

On taking care of the ball:
"I told them downstairs that I'm not unhappy with them. We can't turn the ball over. We've got to make plays. That's an explosive offense, and I think the defense played well enough. I screwed up the one. I'm going to take this one."

"We take the ball so we don't have then coming at us and what do we do? We block a guy in the back and start at the 10-yard line. We have to be smart. You've got to take ball games. They aren't going to be handed to you, and that comes not only from the players but the coaches."

Looking forward:
"This program has been here before. It doesn't look good when you're 3-3 and you're looking down the middle at Oklahoma and they have two weeks to prepare for you."

"I tell people all the time that you don't want to just play, you want to play well. We've been here 21 years because we have taught kids how to play well, and not play."

On the offense:
"You can't put yourself in a hole. It's hard to call the offense you want to call when you start on whatever yard line we started on."

On back-up QB Mike Collins:
"I don't know, I haven't thought about it yet. Right now, it's Sonny (Cumbie's) call. At some point in time, it might be my call. Right now, it's Sonny's call."

On the blocking:
"We're going to have to block a little bit better. They were blitzing him and Shawn (Robinson) was running for his life."

"We've got to find guys who can make plays. If we want to win ball games, guys are going to have to start making plays."
TCU Running Back Sewo Olonilua
On the offense's turnovers:
"We just have to go to practice and take ball security seriously. We need to pay attention to detail and do the little things right."

On the offense having multiple turnovers for the fourth straight game:
"It's definitely frustrating. We can't keep doing the same things. We have to improve every week."

Assessment of the season thus far:
"We just have to hold onto the ball. It's a young team, but we're still growing and can still improve."

On Shawn Robinson playing tonight through his injury:
"It shows he's willing to fight for the team. He played his heart out."

On the defense's performance:
"Our defense has our backs every game. We just need to pay them back on offense because they are holding teams below their averages every week. The offense needs to step it up."

On the offense's performance halfway through the season:
"Turnovers are killing us. We still have the capability to be a good team, we just have to do the little things right."

On the upcoming game versus Oklahoma:
"They are a good team. We just need to learn what they scheme, take the week, and practice hard."
TCU Defensive End Ben Banogu
On sacks and overall thoughts of defensive line:
"I feel like we had our times where we played well. We also left a couple plays out there on the field. Whether that could have changed the outcome of the game, possibly. That's why when you're out there you have to make those plays. Our goal always is to hold them to one less play, and we didn't do that. It doesn't really matter how well we played if we didn't win."

On 3-3 record this season:
"Every team strives to be 6-0 at this point, or 7-0. The only thing we can do now is learn from it and get better next week."

On holding Texas Tech to 17 points:
"Every loss kind of stings. It doesn't really matter who we play, we just want to win. When we don't win it's not good."

On Shawn playing with shoulder condition:
"One thing I love about Shawn is that he is a fighter, he never quits. You know what you're gonna get with him emotionally, mentally. Some things didn't go his way this night but he will learn from it and will get better from it."

On young guys playing in the secondary:
"I saw confidence in their eyes, that they can go out there and execute, and that's one thing that gives you that encouragement that you have guys out there who maybe have not had a lot of reps but they still have confidence in themselves. The coaching staff puts them in the right place to get the job done."

On positive takeaways:
"We held them to under their average so we played well at times. The ball didn't roll our way though, but a positive is we can learn from that and find a way to finish. That's been one of our things the last couple weeks that we've been harping on is going into the second half, playing hard and finishing because we kind of let the game get away from us in the third quarter. I feel we did a better job of that this week. But we didn't win, so we have to find a way to do that."

On Tech's final scoring play:
"I think the coaches on the Tech sideline were waiting on that draw. I figured the coaches would use him to run the ball because he has good feet. We didn't really get that much during the course of the game. They saw we were in a three-man front, and we dropped guys in the coverage. They took advantage of it and we didn't cover, so that's how they got into the end zone."

On moving ahead to Oklahoma:
"I think they had a week off, so they are obviously game planning. They are gonna try and give us some eye wash, show us some new things we haven't seen. So we have a new week starting Sunday, we're gonna game plan and watch film and get ready to play the Sooners at home."

On correcting missed tackles:
"You can't make every play on the field. One thing you can do is learn from them and try to execute to the best of your ability. The moment that we stop having effort out there and stop executing then we stop playing football. For right now, I think we are playing hard we just need to make sure we make the plays that come to us."

TEXAS TECH QUOTES
Texas Tech Head Coach Kliff Kingsbury
On the win on the road:
"It was four years ago that I walked out on that field and they put 82 on us. To have that kind of performance, I am just really proud of what that side of the football has done. They have fought and fought and that's the consistency we are looking for from that group with all of their veteran leaders."

On TTU's success on the road:
"We would like to play better at home, get our atmosphere back to where it used to be, that works both ways, us and the fans. We have a road warrior mentality. It's us against everybody else. They've embraced that and that comes from having good mental focus on the road."

On the tradition in the program:
"In all six games, we feel like we've finished games. We just didn't start them fast. You have to learn how to win in the end and hopefully we're getting a feel for that."

On his offensive success:
"Coach Patterson does such a good job of mixing things up and really kept us out of rhythm all night. We hit them on a couple of plays where the stars aligned and we got lucky. I was really proud of Jett, it's such a hard situation to come into. First start ever and we decide we are going to switch things up at halftime, then to be put back in, dig deep, be mentally tough enough to handle that, and find a way to win. I can't say enough about his mental toughness."

On his defense's performance:
"I was always impressed how (David Gibbs) stuck to his guns, through a couple of really, really rough years. He had a vision, wanted to recruit to it, wanted to develop to it and he stuck with it. We have a couple of veteran players now, and we still have a long way to go but there is some progress being made."

Texas Tech Linebacker Jordyn Brooks
On putting pressure on the TCU offense:
"Extremely proud. The defense stepped up in a big way. We preached all week about starting fast. I think we did that. We played four quarters of hard, good football

On the last play of the game:
"I knew they had about a yard to go. He was running east and west and there were guys blocking everywhere. I just kept going and luckily, I got him down. We got off the field and won the game.

"We knew they were going to throw it. We knew he was going to scramble around so we had guys come up the edge and getting as much pressure as we could.

On facing different looks on the offensive line:
"We didn't check into plays. We had guys upstairs in the box that could see the formation they were in and Coach Gibbs got us in the right play calls to get pressure on the quarterback."

On the current form of the defense:
"I think that we have started to find our identity. Earlier in the year there were a lot of questions on if we were the same defense that we have been in the past. During the last three games we have shown that we are one of the best defenses in the conference right now."

"We just know that there's not much room for error. It's either now or never. We had a good two weeks of practice to prepare for this game and for this offense."

"Earlier in the year we were banged up a lot in the back end. We now have everyone back and healthy. We got our captain, Jah'Shawn Johnson, back and that has helped us tremendously. We got everyone back and now we are comfortable."

On the experience of the defense:
"That's helped tremendously. We have all 11 guys back from last year except for one. We have a ton of experience and a lot of guys that have played a lot of snaps.

On holding a conference opponent to 14 points:
"I'm very proud of it. The defense is, Coach Gibbs is, everyone is. To hold a team like that to 14 points [is great]. In the Big 12, teams like to score a lot of points and to hold them to 14 points is very good.

On the how Tech is selling its defense to recruits:
"When I was getting recruited here, eventually this was the plan; to come in here and do everything I can do to help turn this defense around. This is my third year now and I think that we have done that and still have more to do."

On Adrian Frye:
"Frye is one of my favorite underclassmen. He works hard, doesn't say too much, is a good ball player, and I think the future is bright for him."
Redshirt Defensive Line Eli Howard
On putting together four quarters:
"This is probably the best four quarters defensively, that we have put together, but we're not satisfied. There were a lot of missed opportunities. A lot of plays we wished we could have gotten back. Overall all as team we showed that we're going to fight for four quarters. We started fast this week as a defense and the offense got rolling. It was an incredible game. It was a lot of fun to be with the boys."

On closing out games:
"I think it has to do a lot with how close the team is, the comradery. This team is going to play hard all four quarters. It's something we harped on all offseason, and if you go back and look at the tape form last year, we weren't able to pull some [close games] out. And that's truly the difference between a 6-7 team and a 9-3 team or a 10-2 team. It speaks volumes of our coaching staff and how much they believe in us, and how much we believe in them, the scheme and each other. And our fan base, it's just incredible support from everywhere. Everyone has each other's backs."

On making a name for himself:
"When I walked on, I didn't really care about the defense or who was here or in front of me. I just tried to do whatever I could to compete and help the team out as much as I can. I just got here, and they said, 'You're 230. You need to gain some weight, first of all. Second of all, you're not going to play defensive end, you have to play wherever you can find a spot.' Next thing I know, I slap on 45 pounds and am a nose tackle trying to help my team out anyway I can. I'm so thankful that I transferred here, and everyone has truly accepted me with open arms. It's incredible."

On Coach Gibbs:
"If you look at coach Gibbs, his experience speaks for itself. He's the greatest coach. He does such a great job of knowing his players and getting the most out of them each and every day. He does a good job of grounding us and humbling us. His schemes are exceptional."

On the win:
"It's hard to go into anyone's house in the Big-12 and win. Especially TCU. The fact that win can come into their house on a Thursday and leave with a W and get a few extra days of rest is going to give us a lot of momentum."

Texas Tech Linebacker Kolin Hill
On containing TCU quarterback Shawn Robinson:
"He's a really good player. That last play where he cut back across the whole field, that's just what he does."

On TCU's last offensive play:
"I was chasing back side and then he (Robinson) reversed field. It was crazy. Dakota (Allen) tried getting him. Luckily the ball popped out and we ended up getting it."

On the difference of tonight's defense:
"I feel like as a defense we are a lot closer as we have been. Our relationships are a lot closer. It's easier to communicate on the field and everybody executes at a high level. You can trust everybody out there."

Texas Tech Wide Receiver Ja'Deion High
On the quarterback Jett Duffey:
"I think he did well. He had a lot of adversity and they (TCU) were controlling the ball well on offense. So we didn't get many offensive drives to get it rolling."

On finishing the game:
"It felt well. We've done it in previous weeks. We are really focusing in on starting the game and getting out there and throwing the first punch at them and see how they are reacting. We started slow last week against West Virginia. We won't do that again"

On downing the punt at the 1-yard line:
"It was big. I wasn't supposed to be the one to down it. It was supposed to be the other guy, but he didn't get back there in time. I saw him not back there so I just ran over there to make a play."
