Freshman Ryan Camp got the Frogs off to a hot start with a ninth-place finish in the men's discus. Camp recorded a personal-best mark of 184 feet 7 inches (56.26 meters) on his second attempt, which held for a trip to nationals. Camp is one of only five freshmen to break the 180-foot barrier this season.
Junior Scotty Newton, who already qualified for the long jump finals earlier this week, will now compete in two events at the NCAA Championships. Newton placed ninth overall and punched his ticket to nationals in the triple jump with a wind-legal mark of 52 feet 5.25 inches (15.98 meters).
TCU kept up the momentum and gained even more steam as both the men's and women's 4x100-meter relays solidified their spot at nationals. The men's quartet of senior Raymond Bozmans, junior Jalen Miller, sophomore Darrion Flowers and freshman Jostyn Andrews automatically advanced with a third-place finish in the second heat at 39.33. The race was highlighted by a strong third leg by Flowers, who had not competed since the Longhorn Invitational on April 29.
The women's 4x100 relay team of sophomore Kayla Heard, junior Sabrina Moore, senior Judy Emeodi and junior Briona Oliver earned their spot at nationals with a season-best time of 44.34, improving by .44 seconds. TCU finished with the top spot in the first heat after a review of the race disqualified Oregon.
Sophomore Brittney Trought will make her first appearance in Eugene after recording a second-place and personal-best time of 13.04 (w+2.8) in the first heat.
In the night's main event, the TCU men's 4x400-meter relay squad of junior Kevin McClanahan, and freshmen Andrews, Ryan Champlin and Derrick Mokaleng locked down the 12th and final spot to move on to nationals with a time of 3:06.50.
In total, the Horned Frogs advanced in eight events throughout the stint in Austin. Those athletes will compete next at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 7-10.
