Big 12 Champion
In her first collegiate 5,000-meter race, Goertzen took home gold at the Big 12 Indoor Championships with a school-record time of 16:02.80. Her time broke the previous TCU record by more than 20 seconds and beat out second place by 12 seconds. She also went on to place third in the 3K at the conference championships at 9:23.01.
Leap Frog
Junior Scotty Newton represented the Horned Frogs at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships last week in the triple jump. Newton placed 12th at the meet and leads the way in jumps on the men's side. Newton moved to No. 2 on TCU's all-time list with a personal-best distance of 53 feet 4.25 inches (16.26 meters) at Frisco during the indoor season.
Relay Staple
With the return of two First-Team All-Americans in senior Raymond Bozmans and sophomore Darrion Flowers in the 4x100, TCU will look to keep relays a Horned Frog tradition this year. The additions of junior Emeilo Ferguson and freshmen Jostyn Andrews, Derrick Mokaleng and Ryan Champlin have added solid depth to an already strong sprinting squad. The quartet of junior Kevin McClanahan, Andrews, Champlin and Mokaleng produced a season-best time of 3:06.84 in the 4x4 during the indoor season, ranking No. 8 on TCU's all-time list.
