
Offensive Surge Leads TCU To Victory

IRVINE, Calif. – No. 1 TCU salvaged a game in the series against UC Irvine with a 16-7 victory over the Anteaters. Josh Watson and Nolan Brown led the way at the plate with four RBIs each.
The Rundown
TCU grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as it took advantage of a lead-off walk to Austen Wade. With two outs, Josh Watson lined a single into center for TCU's first lead of the season.
UC Irvine battled back in the bottom of the frame to take the lead. Four walks and a hit batter were the culprits as the Anteaters took a 2-1 advantage without the benefit of a hit.
The Frogs' bats came to life in the third as they grabbed a 3-2 lead on a two-out, bases-loaded single from Nolan Brown.
In the fourth, TCU sent 10 men to the plate and scored six times to break the game open. Wade's second double of the game followed by a Cam Warner sacrifice fly gave TCU breathing room. A three-run double from Watson put the exclamation point on the frame.
Five more runs crossed the plate for the Frogs in the fifth as the lead grew to 14-2. Luken Baker had a two-run single with the bases loaded to highlight the frame.
UC Irvine picked up five runs late, but TCU also notched two of their own to account for the final score.
Jared Janczak (4-0) picked up the win after allowing just two runs on two hits in six innings. Ryan Burnett, Sean Wymer and Austin Boyles each pitched an inning in relief.

With the win, TCU improves to 12-3 on the season. The Horned Frogs will have an off-day in California before returning to the diamond Tuesday night to take on Long Beach State. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m. (CT).
