TCU Surges to 3rd-Place Finish at The Dickson

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The No. 27 TCU women's golf team posted the day's second-best team score as it surged to a third-place finish Tuesday in a strong field at The Dickson.
The Horned Frogs' final round 2-over-par 290 was bettered only by one stroke by No. 3 Florida State. TCU finished one shot behind runner-up and 10th-ranked Kent State.
"I was really proud of the grit and mental toughness we displayed today," TCU head women's golf coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. "The conditions were really challenging with the pin locations, wind and the tee boxes being moved back.
"We really had some ground to make up, and we set a challenge for them. They stepped up and met that challenge. I'm really proud that we're moving in the right direction. It was a great field here. We're always looking to win, but to come out with a third-place finish and move up that leaderboard today, I couldn't be prouder."
A trio of Horned Frogs, Emmy Martin, Brooke Graebe and Kelly McGovern, tied for 12th individually at 1-over 217.
Martin had two birdies, including her final hole, in recording a 73. The junior from Odessa, Fla., now has four straight top-12 finishes.
Graebe also birdied her final hole to post an even-par 72. She recorded two birdies and shot par on 14 holes. A sophomore from Yorba Linda, Calif., Graebe posted her 13th top-20 finish in 17 collegiate tournaments.
McGovern, playing on her home course at The Woodlands Country Club, had four birdies en route to a 1-under 71.
After a 74, TCU's Annika Clark tied for 20th with a 3-over 219. She tied McGovern for team-best honors with four birdies, including three in a five-hole stretch.
Brooke McDougald shot par on 14 holes for the Horned Frogs.
Florida State shot 21 under to win the team title. The Seminoles' Morgane Metraux was the individual medalist with a 14-under 202.
TCU returns to action March 17, when it begins play at the Notre Dame Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz.
