Opening statement…
"It was obviously an exciting game and I am excited for us to get a win from a very good team. They are a high RPI team, I know that. They have been taking care of business every game. It was great that we could come here and get this win. It was a high character win for us. It was great to see us making plays and to have our young guys make plays that we needed. We have not had that in a couple games down the stretch, but today it came around. This could help us going down the road here and I believe it will. They are a very good team. They obviously made shots and [Kamau] Stokes was terrific. For us we have been talking about firsts. We have been talking to our guys about how we have not beaten K-State in 19 years. Now we have to get ready for Texas, but obviously it was an exciting game.
On 3-pointers…
"We have been getting open, but we just have not shot it well. We were a high 3-point shooting team and then the stretch happened. They were probably more open in the previous games that we played. We have had shots but I just think we hit a stretch. We are normally a good 3-point shooting team. We have been pretty hard to guard as far as getting shots up. Our turnovers and poor shooting if anything has hurt us these last four games. They force turnovers and we know that.
On runs in the first half…
"It is just something we have to get through. We have had a stretch of these and what went wrong was they are good. They are going to make a run, but it should not be that long. We turn the ball over way too much and give transition baskets. It happened last game and this game. We have got to change it. We have always been a low turnover team and our numbers are significantly lower compared to the past. It is something that we have fought and that is the main thing. Our defense is not that bad, their offense is just good."
On offensive rebounds…
"That is just something that we do and we have been doing that consistently throughout. We are one of the best teams at offensive rebounding in the country. It is something that we talk about and we felt we had to win the rebounding battle and we did. That was key for us on the road."
On Vladimir Brodziansky…
"He was big down the stretch. The double team hurt him a bit and we got some turnovers out of it. We have really emphasized getting the ball to him these last couple of days. We kind of get away from stuff on stretches offensively. It is a product of new guys, a new place, a new coach, and playing good teams. He has to defend and rebound better. He is a hard guy to guard, especially when we have the four shooters around and we are making shots.
