Mazzoli, a junior from Montorfano, Italy, finished tied for 18th at the Nike Collegiate Invitational, finishing 4-under 209 with two sub-70 rounds. Mazzoli shot 3-under 68 in the second round and 2-under 69 in the third round. He carded an eagle in on the par 5 No. 4 hole. The Nike Collegiate Invitational, held in North Plains, Ore., is known as one of the toughest tournaments in the country. This year's field included four teams that were national semifinalists last season.
After Oregon, TCU will head to Alpharetta, Ga. for the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate tournament the weekend of Oct. 20.
Goertzen, a junior from Woodbury, Minn., made her season debut at the Texas A&M Invitational, where she finished second overall and was named Big 12 Runner of the Week. She continued her success at Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational, where she finished 20th overall and third among Big 12 runners. Not only did she keep pace with several 2016 All-Americans in this race, Goertzen also finished over 15 seconds faster than her previous personal best in the 5,000-meters.
The Horned Frogs will return to competition at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Ky. on Oct. 14.
