FORT WORTH, Texas - Going into her final year at TCU, senior Megan McMullen has a chance to make history. GoFrogs.com takes a closer look at the Tennessee native.
McMullen, who joined elite company this past season by becoming one of only seven student-athletes all-time to ever be named a two-time NCEA All-American, should once again push for All-America recognition in Horsemanship after garnering first-team honors in 2016. If she is able to accomplish that feat, McMullen would become the first three-time NCEA First or Second-Team All-American in program history.
Coming off a season where McMullen claimed her second All-America certificate in Horsemanship after going 14-4-0 on the year with four MOP's, the 2016 All-Big 12 honoree went a perfect 6-0 in postseason action, which helped her earn the Most Outstanding Player in Horsemanship at the NCEA National Championships. She played a huge part in TCU earning runner-up accolades as a team as the Tennessee product was named to the All-Championship team at nationals after going a perfect 4-0 in competition. McMullen, who finished in the top-four at the AQHA Collegiate Horsemanship Challenge, picked up several honors throughout the season, including NCEA Horsemanship Rider of the Month, while also earning Big 12 Rider of the Month
With an overall career record of 31-13-2 and seven MOP accolades in Horsemanship, McMullen has a chance to overtake former all-time great Courtney Chown for the most wins in school history in Horsemanship. Chown posted an overall record of 44-16-1 during her distinguished career.
With the season fast approaching, now the only question left is - What will McMullen do for an encore? TCU opens its season on Friday, Sept. 16 versus Texas Tech in Springtown at Turning Point Ranch.
