DALLAS – Evan Skoug's two-run home run in the fourth inning was all No. 7 TCU needed to defeat No. 17 Dallas Baptist Tuesday night in a game called after seven innings due to weather.
The Rundown
The combination of Rex Hill, Jared Janczak and Durbin Feltman made the two-runs stand up as they limited the Patriot to just three hits.
In a pre-determined start, Hill issued just two walks and didn't allow a hit in two innings of work. Janczak (5-3) tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings. He allowed three hits, walked two and struck out two. Feltman picked up his third save of the season, retiring the only two batters he faced.
A sparkling defensive play by Josh Watson in the third kept Dallas Baptist from taking the lead. With one on and two out, Watson appeared to have made a diving catch, but it was ruled to have hit the ground. The runner from first was off and running on the play, but Watson got up and threw a strike to Skoug at home, who tagged the runner to end the inning.
Cam Warner opened up the fourth with a lead-off double. Skoug followed with a home run to left field to put the Frogs on top 2-0.
Dallas Baptist threatened in the seventh inning with a pair of base runners. With one out, the lightning struck prompting a 1 hour and 35 minute delay. Upon resumption, Durbin Feltman came on and got the final two outs in the inning to preserve the shutout.
