Adi, Barrett at Top of Leaderboard in Cali

FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU senior Sarosh Adi and junior Chelso Barrett stand at the top of the individual leaderboard and TCU is second overall after the opening round of the eighth-annual Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate presented by Cleveland Golf, at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
TCU shot even par on the opening day of play and trail top place Kansas by three strokes after the opening 18 holes. The Frogs shot a team score of 288 thanks to two sub-70 cards.
Adi shot an opening round 67 and Barrett shot an opening round 68 to pace the Horned Frogs after one day. Adi's five-under par round was bogey free and included five birdies, including the final two holes of both the front and back nine. Similarly, Barrett had a near perfect card with no bogeys and four birdies on the day.
TCU's success on the day came in large part thanks to a seven-under par performance on par 5s and 16 birdies on the day.
The event, hosted by Wyoming, includes 20 teams and 15 individuals at the three-day event. All three days will consist of 18 holes that will begin at 8:30 a.m. MT. The 2016 Desert Intercollegiate field includes Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, TCU, Texas Tech, Gonzaga, Colorado, Old Dominion, Cal Poly, Idaho, Oral Roberts University, South Dakota State, UC Irvine, Cal State Northridge, Southern Utah, UC Riverside, UT-Arlington, Arkansas-Little Rock, Denver and Southern Illinois.
