The Series
TCU and Illinois State will battle for only the second time in program history Monday night. The Horned Frogs lead the all-time series at 1-0. The last time the two teams met came on Nov. 25, 2015 at the Cancun Challenge. TCU posted a 71-60 victory in the contest as now junior Malique Trent scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-12 from the field.
Bane Continues Hot Start
Freshman Desmond Bane has had quite the start to his career as the Indiana product is averaging 16.5 points, while shooting a red hot 63.2 percent from the field, in his last two starts. Bane, who has also made six-straight free throws to open the year, is the only freshman to rank in the top-20 of the Big 12 Conference in points per game at 15.0. He currently sits No. 10 overall in the league and is also the highest ranked rookie at No. 8 in field goal percentage with a 63 percent clip after three games.
Parrish Returning To Form
Senior Brandon Parrish had quite the game in his last outing against Jacksonville State, scoring 20 or more points for only a third time in his four-year career with a 20-point night. In his 100th career game, Parrish, who made his first start of the season, connected on four-of-six from deep. With four three's this past Friday night, Parrish has now connected on four or more triples in a game four times in his career. He currently sits No. 32 in the NCAA in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 57.1 percent from deep.
Chucking It From All Over
TCU recorded a season-high 11 three-pointers this past Friday night against Jacksonville State. With 11 triples, the Purple and White have now hit 10 or more three's in two-straight outings. Consider this, TCU didn't connect on at least 10 or more three's in a single-game a year ago until late February when they knocked down 11 at Iowa State. The Frogs didn't even post their second game of 10 or more treys until the second week of March against Texas Tech at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.
Kenny Hustle Makes His Return
Junior Kenrich Williams saw his first action in 618 days against Jacksonville State this past Friday night. The Waco product totaled nine points in 20 minutes of action. He sat out all of last season with an injury after ranking No. 3 in offensive rebounds in the Big 12 Conference with 2.78 offensive boards a game in 2014-15.
Numbers Tell The Story
With an average of 20 assists per game, TCU currently ranks No. 19 in the NCAA in assists per game. Individually, Jaylen Fisher currently ranks fourth among all freshmen nationally in total assists with 19. He also ranks No. 4 among all freshmen in the NCAA in assists per game with 6.3.
