
Underclassmen Making Their Mark Early

FORT WORTH, Texas – When No. 7 TCU travels to No. 5 Fresno State next week, several underclassmen will continue to look to make their mark on the program.
The Horned Frogs opened their season with a 10-9 victory over Texas Tech and North Central Texas College. The Frogs claimed all four MOP honors in Springtown and saw a total of 11 freshmen see their first action in a Horned Frog uniform. Notable newcomers in the first meet included freshmen Jamie Cook and Carly Lombard sweeping MOP honors in Western.
Fast forward to their last time out and the Purple and White saw six freshmen and two sophomores grace the Horned Frog lineup. Against the Mustangs, notables include Jamie Cook claiming a 73.5-72.5 victory in Horsemanship. Sophomore Marah Huston was also victorious in the discipline, scoring a 74 on Cupid.
In Reining, freshman Carly Lombard improved to 2-0 on the season in Reining with a 71-70.5 decision over SMU's Holly Lansidel. Sophomore Meloney Morris appeared to have scored a point for the Frogs' in their last time out, riding Dream to a 71-71 draw. Other newcomers who saw their first NCEA action included Misty Redd, Patty Gill, Josie Mootz and Claire Dittrich.
On the season, Cook is 2-0 in Horsemanship, while Lombard sits at 2-0 in Reining. Both have also garnered MOP accolades during the early portion of the schedule.
No. 7 TCU will travel to No. 5 Fresno State on Friday, Oct. 21. Start time is set for 11:00 a.m. PT. The Bulldogs are currently 4-1 on the season and are on a two-meet winning streak, having defeated previously No. 1 Auburn and Delaware State.
