TCU Announces 2015 Hall of Fame Class

FORT WORTH, Texas - Roosevelt Collins, Sandora Irvin, Luis Ruette, Roscoe Tatum, Gregg Troy and Royal West will comprise the 48th class set for induction into the TCU Letterman’s Association Hall of Fame.
“We are excited to induct six of TCU’s best former athletes into this year’s Hall of Fame Class,” said J. T. Aughinbaugh, TCU Lettermen’s Association President. “It is going to be a great weekend, which starts off with our banquet and ends by recognizing our inductees at the end of the first quarter of the TCU versus SMU football game.”
The group will be honored in a formal ceremony and banquet on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. CT, inside TCU’s Brown-Lupton University Union. Limited seating is still available; please visit www.lettermens.tcu.edu for more information.
Roosevelt Collins ’91 – Football
Collins was a multiple All-SWC selection during his time at TCU and finished his collegiate career with 271 tackles, 30.5 for loss and 18 sacks. A Rogers Trophy award winner following his senior year, the defensive end standout went on to an NFL Career with both the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys.
Sandora Irvin ’05 – Women's Basketball
One of the most decorated student-athletes in TCU history, Irvin was a two-time All-America honoree by the WBCA and AP, who was selected as the No. 3 overall pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft. Irvin, who previously held the NCAA Record for blocked shots in a career, is TCU’s all-time leader in points, rebounding and blocked shots. She was named to the Conference USA All-Decade team and was voted the league’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2005
Luis Ruette ’92 - Men's Tennis
Ruette was a four-time All-America honoree during his time at TCU, which included being named a Singles All-American in 1991 and 1992, respectively. The 1991 Southwest Conference Player of the Year, Ruette was a seven-time all-conference honoree between singles and doubles, who won three conference championships during his tenure. He closed his career ranking second in TCU history in singles victories and fourth overall in doubles winning percentage.
Roscoe Tatum ’88 – Track & Field, Football
Tatum claimed two NCAA Championships as part of the men’s 4x100 relay during his time in Fort Worth. He was a five-time All-America honoree and finished third overall in the men’s 55 and 100 meters at NCAA Championship. Tatum was part of the quartet who won the Penn Relays in both the 4x100 and 4x200. A multiple-time all-conference honoree, Tatum was a three-year letter winner who also played running back for the TCU football program.
Gregg Troy ’72 - Men's Swimming & Diving
Troy has gone on to be one of the most successful coaches in NCAA history following his swimming career at TCU, which saw him be honored as a four-year team captain and leave school with six TCU records. He would go on to become the head coach of the United States Olympic team at the 2012 Olympics in London and has earned multiple NCAA and National Coach of the Year accolades while coaching at Florida. Troy, who has been inducted into the American Swim Coaches Hall of Fame, has coached over 250 All-America honorees and 91 Olympic swimmers during his tenure. A five-time SEC Coach of the Year, Troy has carried the Gators to 27 men’s and women’s team titles and 125 conference event titles.
Royal West ’95 – Football
West was a two-time all-conference honoree as a defensive lineman at TCU. He was selected to play in the Hula Bowl after a standout career that saw him currently rank 10th all-time in tackles for loss and sixth in sacks for a single-season. West made 40-straight career starts and was honored as the Ray McCullod SWC Sportsmanship Award honoree in 1994. He helped the Horned Frogs capture the 1994 SWC Championship and still ranks fifth in career sacks in program history.
