The Rundown
Missouri scored the opening goal of the game in the 18th minute on a shot from Savannah Trujillo. Her strike from the top of the 19-yard box snuck in just under the crossbar to give the Tigers the early lead. The Tigers picked up an insurance goal in the second half, this one just over eight minutes in, gave the Tigers breathing room. Reagan Russell's shot found the far corner for a 2-0 lead in the 53rd minute
Making her collegiate debut, Faith Carter flashed some skill and speed. In her first foray onto the field, she made a solid run down the sideline and fed a strong cross into the five-yard box, but the shot attempt went just wide of the goal. In the second half, she had the best opportunity of the game for the Frogs as she found herself one on one with the Tiger keeper. The challenge by Missouri's goalkeeper forced the shot to go high and wide.
Stat of the Game
7 -- Courtney Hofer made seven saves in her third career start as the goalkeeper, including four in the second half as TCU tried to mount a comeback.
Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
"I think going in we felt really good about the opportunity in front of us. For about 20 minutes we were neck-and-neck with them. I thought we competed well, but somewhere we lost our mojo and stopped winning balls. We were never able to regain the momentum we had, so it's disappointing in that regard. There are some positives to take out the game, but we need to go back to the drawing board."
"The back line was for the most part pretty good and I would call that a positive. They didn't give up a lot of quality opportunities. We need to sort out the middle part of the field in order to be better."
