FORT WORTH, Texas -- Ten members of TCU's 2014 Big 12 championship football team are in NFL camps.
In addition to draft picks Paul Dawson (Cincinnati Bengals) and Tayo Fabuluje (Chicago Bears), last year's Horned Frogs have an additional eight players with NFL teams: linebacker Jonathan Anderson (Chicago Bears), safety Sam Carter (Chicago Bears), running back B.J. Catalon (Dallas Cowboys), safety Chris Hackett (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), defensive tackle Chucky Hunter (Dallas Cowboys), linebacker Marcus Mallet (Dallas Cowboys), wide receiver David Porter (Miami Dolphins) and cornerback Kevin White (Atlanta Falcons).
Anderson was a four-year letterman who played in all 51 games in his TCU career, including 16 starts. He totaled 173 tackles.
Carter was a three-time All-Big 12 selection and a 2014 semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, recognizing the nation's top defensive back. His 13 interceptions over the last three seasons were the most by any Big 12 player. Carter played as a graduate student in his final campaign at TCU.
Catalon had three 100-yard rushing games for the Horned Frogs last season. He returned two kickoff returns for touchdowns in his TCU career, going 100 yards against LSU in 2013 and 94 yards versus Baylor in 2014.
Hackett led the Big 12 last season and tied for third nationally with seven interceptions. A first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2014, Hackett totaled 224 tackles and 12 picks in his three seasons as a Horned Frog.
Hunter, like Carter, was a three-time All-Big 12 selection. He totaled 23 1/2 tackles for loss, including nine sacks, in his TCU career. Hunter earned his TCU degree in just 3 1/2 years.
Mallet placed second on TCU last season with 100 tackles, including stopping Oklahoma star running back Samaje Perine for no gain on a 4th-and-1 at the TCU 22 with 2:48 to play in the Horned Frogs' 37-33 victory.
Porter had a career-best season in 2014, ranking among the team leaders with 39 receptions for 392 yards and three touchdowns. He totaled 74 catches as a Horned Frog.
White, an All-Big 12 selection last season, was the Conference Defensive Player of the Week in the Horned Frogs' win at West Virginia. He held WVU standout wide receiver Kevin White, the seventh overall pick by the Chicago Bears, to three catches for 28 yards with no receptions over the final three quarters. White had two interceptions and 11 pass breakups last season. He started 37 of TCU's 38 games over the last three seasons with 40 career starts.
In his 14 seasons as TCU's head coach, Gary Patterson has had 36 players drafted with 82 in NFL camps. TCU has had at least two players drafted in six of the last seven seasons.
