FORT WORTH - TCU was one out away from sweeping Saturday's doubleheader with Santa Clara when severe weather hit the area. The Horned Frogs recorded the final out Sunday to secure the 6-1 victory.

Mitchell Traver (6-1) earned the victory after tossing five scoreless innings. He allowed just one hit, walked three and struck out six. Brian Trieglaff was in line for his first save of the season when the weather struck after tossing 3 2/3 innings. He surrendered an unearned run on one hit and struck out seven. Drew Gooch needed just one pitch to tally the final out of the game.

Back-to-back two-out doubles in the first helped the Frogs get on the board early. Connor Wanhanen doubled with two outs and scored easily on a double from Evan Skoug for a 1-0 lead.

TCU broke the game open in the bottom of the second. Three straight hits from Keaton Jones, Nolan Brown and Garrett Crain got the inning rolling. Crain's base hit to center drove in Jones for a 2-0 lead. With two outs and two on, Jeremie Fagnan extended the lead to three with a base hit through the right side. Wanhanen cleared the bases with a two-run triple for a 5-0 advantage.

Another lead-off single, this one in the third, helped TCU push the lead to six. Derek Odell opened the inning with a base hit. A stolen base and a throwing error had Odell standing on third with one out. Crain drove in his second run of the game with a groundout.

Traver stranded a runner in each of the third and fourth innings. He ran into a bit of a jam in the sixth after a walk and a single put two on with nobody out. Trieglaff came on and fanned the next two before getting a fly out to end the inning without the runners advancing any further.

Santa Clara picked up its only run of the game in the eighth inning. The Broncos got a lead-off single from TC Florentine. A passed ball moved him to second with nobody out. Back-to-back groundouts drove in Florentine with the Broncos first run of the series.

With the win, TCU improves to 29-8 overall.
