"Today didn't go as planned and we are very disappointed. In the end, we would like to congratulate Oklahoma State on the win," said TCU Director of Equestrian Haley Schoolfield. "We had some uncharacteristic mistakes today, but we had some very beautiful rides. These student-athletes are champions in our eyes and we are looking forward to continuing the development of this young team next season."
With the loss, the Horned Frogs concluded their season at 6-8 overall, while the Cowgirls improved to 5-7 overall and will face No. 2 seeded Baylor Friday.
On the Hunt Seat side, TCU fought hard, but OSU was able to jump out to an early 3-1 lead following Equitation on the Flat. Sophomore Molly Peddicord scored the lone point for the Frogs in the discipline, riding Cowboy to a 155-143 victory over Kendall Pedigo.
In Equitation over Fences, the Purple and White just missed on some scoring opportunities as freshman Jayme Omand led the way, totaling a 155-147 upending of Carly Barrick. Peddicord appeared to have scored a point for the Frogs, but fell to Allison Joyce. With the win, Omand concluded her first year as a Horned Frog, recording five victories in the discipline.
In Western, senior Alexi Child put the finishing touches on a remarkable career in Reining Thursday, defeating Danielle Cohen, 139.5-138. With the win, Child, who has earned numerous honors during her time in Fort Worth, including all-conference and NCEA All-America accolades, improved to 7-5-2 on the season. 2015 NCEA All-America honoree Katelyn Gray just missed scoring for TCU as she fell to Justine Peters. Earlier in the day, Gray was named the 2015 recipient of the Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
In Horsemanship, junior Colby Plott tried to rally the Horned Frogs late, but just missed downing Ty Parris, falling by the slightest of margins, 144.5-144.
