TCU Grabs Four Wins at Wes Kittley Invite

ABILENE, Texas - The TCU men's and women's track and field teams tallied four event wins, as well as multiple personal and seasonal-bests at the Wes Kittley Invitational on Saturday, April 11, at Elmer Gray Stadium.
"It was a good day today," TCU director of track and field Darryl Anderson said. "We came away with some good regional marks.
"All of the quarter-milers ran better today."
Sophomore Tiffany Terry recorded a first-place mark in the women's 400 meters. She won the event with a seasonal-best time of 53.96 seconds,, which ranks third on the NCAA West Qualifying list.
On the men's side, senior Joshua Washington set a personal-best at 46.28, en route to a fourth-place finish. His time ranks fifth on the West Qualifying list. Freshman Kevin McClanahan also put up a seasonal-best time of 47.70 seconds.
"Joshua Washington had a breakthrough day with a PR and regional qualifier mark of 46.28." Anderson added.
The two also helped bring home a win in the 4x400 relay. The duo teamed up with senior Lavon Collins and junior Harvey McSwain and raced to a time of 3:08.21, which is the eighth-best mark on the NCAA West Qualifying list.
Collins also finished second in the 400 hurdles at 52.62.
In the women's 1500 meters, freshman Arin Rice posted a first-place finish with a time of 4:33.33. Her time is a seasonal-best and ranks ninth all-time at TCU.
Sophomore Paola Miranda picked up her second victory of the outdoor season in the women's hammer throw. She improved in each of her first four throws of the day, with her best coming in at 58.43m (191-8).
In the men's 200 meters, junior Ronnie Baker finished second, clocking in at a wind-aided time of 20.64 seconds. The time was a personal-best under any conditions.
Junior Sam Watts also recorded an all-conditions PR in the men's 100 meters. His wind-assisted mark of 10.32 seconds ranks him inside the top 10 on the NCAA West Qualifying list with Baker (10.02 wind-aided) in second on the list.
On the women's side, sophomore Iphona-Clemence Paiement also finished third with a seasonal-best mark of 11.86 seconds.
Sophomore Makaila Flannigan also set a personal-best in the women's hurdles at 13.59, finishing second in the event, a time that puts her inside the top 20 among West Qualifying times.
"All in all, I thought we competed fairly well for most of the day," Anderson said. "We had some things happen throughout the day that we really needed to have happen as we prepare to go to the next meets at Baylor and Florida. And we got out healthy, so it was a good day."
Next week, the Horned Frogs return to Waco for the Michael Johnson Classic on Saturday, April 18, at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.
