TCU Finishes Third at LSU Tiger Golf Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. -- TCU senior Kortnie Maxoutopoulis shot an even-par 72 to tie for fourth individually and lead the Horned Frogs into a third-place finish after Sunday's final round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic.
It was the Horned Frogs' second straight third-place result. TCU was also third at the Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz., earlier this month. TCU's 297 on Sunday marked its best round of the tournament. The Horned Frogs finished at 895, 16 strokes behind No. 6 and host LSU, who took the team title with an 879.
Maxoutopoulis eagled the par 4, 327-yard 15th hole. It was the second straight day a Horned Frog recorded an eagle. Kelly McGovern had an eagle on Saturday. Maxoutopoulis totaled three birdies, including her final hole. She finished at 2-over-par 218, four strokes behind LSU's Elise Bradley who took medalist honors after defeating Mississippi State's Rica Tse on a second playoff hole. They were tied at 2-under 214.
It was the second consecutive tournament that Maxoutopoulis posted the best finish of her three-year TCU career. She tied for 10th at the Clover Cup.
McGovern, who posted a 76, had back-to-back birdies on her fourth and fifth holes of the day to place in a tie for 10th. It was a season-best result and the third top-20 finish of the season for the sophomore from The Woodlands, Texas.
Alexandra Bonetti shot par on 13 holes and had a birdie en route to a 75. She finished in a tie for 14th for her 12th career top-20 result.
Emmy Martin birdied her opening hole and the final two on the front nine. The freshman from Odessa, Fla., finished with a 75.
TCU returns to action April 10 at the Dallas Athletic Club/SMU Invitational.
