FORT WORTH - A six-run third inning for Oklahoma State was the difference as the Cowboys claimed the series victory with a 7-2 win Sunday afternoon. Keaton Jones picked up two hits in the loss.

Alex Young (4-1) was tagged with the loss as he allowed the six unearned runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out four in 2 2/3 innings of work.

Brian Howard turned in a solid effort in relief as he held the Cowboys two just two hits over 4 1/3 innings of work. He walked one and struck out four. Brian Trieglaff allowed a run on a hit in 2/3 of an inning. Travis Evans recorded two outs and Preston Guillory retired both batters he faced.

A two-out base hit in the third from Gage Green started a string of seven straight Cowboys to reach base. An error and a walk followed loading the bases. Corey Hassel cleared the bases with a double. A David Petrino base hit followed by a double from Jacob Chappell extended the Cowboy lead to 6-0.

After being stymied for most of the game, the Frogs finally broke through in the seventh. Evan Skoug led off the frame with a base hit to right. An errant pick-off throw had Skoug standing on second. Dane Steinhagen roped a single to left to put runners on the corners. A two-out hit from Nolan Brown got TCU on the board.

Oklahoma State got the run back in the top of the eight as it took advantage of a lead-off hit batter. Petrino was standing on third with two outs and scored on a base hit from Donnie Walton to restore the six-run lead, 7-1.

TCU pushed across a run in the bottom of the eight to account for the final score. Keaton Jones doubled with one out and moved to third on a wild pitch. He scored the second run of the game on a Garrett Crain ground out to make it 7-2.

With the loss, TCU falls to 17-4 overall and 4-2 in Big 12 play. TCU will host Oklahoma in a non-conference game Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. It will be televised on FSSW+.
