TCU Walks-Off With 4-3 Win Over Oklahoma

Dane Steinhagen hit a line shot through the right side with one out in the 10th . He moved to third on an error by the shortstop to put runners on the corners with only one out. Nolan Brown stole second, prompting the Sooners to bring the infield in. After a foul ball shook up Austen Wade, Jeremie Fagnan was called on to hit with an inherited count of 1-2. Fagnan took a ball before hitting a line drive back through the middle to send the Frogs to victory.
Oklahoma forced extra innings with a two-run eighth that tied the game at three. The first two Sooner batters in the frame reached. An errant throw on a sacrifice attempt made it a 3-2 contest. With runners on the corners, a balk was called, tying the game at three. The Sooners sacrificed again to put the go-ahead run at third with one out. After an intentional walk, Trey Teakell (1-1) got Austin O'Brien to strikeout. A running gaffe at first base ended the inning with the game tied.
The Sooners threatened to take the lead again in the top of the 10th. With two outs, a single from Anthony Hermelyn kept the inning alive. Sheldon Neuse followed with a double to put the go-ahead run at third. Teakell wiggled off the hook with a ground out to set up the thrilling finish in the bottom of the inning.
Oklahoma opened the scoring in the first inning. A pair of one-out singles had runners on first and second. With two-outs, Neuse line a base hit into left to put the Sooners on top 1-0.
TCU tied the game with a two-out rally in the fourth. Keaton Jones started the rally with a base hit. Derek Odell followed with a walk and a Dane Steinhagen infield single loaded the bases. Nolan Brown worked the second walk of the inning to drive in the tying run.
Cody Jones wasted no time putting the Frogs on top as he led off the fifth with a solo home run to left field. Connor Wanhanen lined a single up the middle to chase the Oklahoma starter from the game. He was standing on second with two outs when Odell looped a single into center to drive him in for a 3-1 lead.
Tyler Alexander was strong over seven innings in the no-decision. He allowed a run on six hits and struck out five. After facing six Sooners in the first inning, he allowed just four base runners over the next six innings. Teakell relieved Alexander in the eighth and went three innings. He allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits, walked one and struck out two.
With the win, the Horned Frogs improve to 18-4 overall. The Frogs will take a break from conference action this weekend as they wrap up a season-long 12-game homestand with a three game series against Wichita State. Friday's series-opener is set for 6:30 p.m.
