FORT WORTH - No. 1 TCU stretched its winning streak to seven straight with a 5-0 victory in game one of a midweek series against UT Pan American. Derek Odell paced the offensive attack with three hits and two RBIs.

Brian Howard (3-0), making his first career start, earned the victory after allowing two hits in four innings of work. He finished his outing with four strikeouts. Ryan Burnett surrendered three hits, walked one and struck out three in 1 2/3 innings. Trey Teakell retired four of the five batters he faced. Brian Trieglaff pitched a scoreless eighth, while Preston Guillory tossed a scoreless ninth.

Odell started a two-out rally in the first to help the Frogs get an early lead. Evan Skoug followed with a base knock to put runners on the corners. Garrett Crain looped a single into right field to give TCU the 1-0 lead.

TCU clung to the 1-0 lead for most of the game. The pitching staff wiggled off the hook in a couple innings to hold the lead.

Howard pitched around a lead-off double in the fourth. The big play came when Cody Jones tracked down a shallow fly ball and doubled off the runner at second. Another fly ball ended the fourth with no damage done.

UT Pan American's best chance to knot the game at one came in the fifth after another lead-off double. A balk had Jesus Garcia standing on third with nobody out. Burnett got a big strikeout for the first out, but a walk followed to put runners on the corners. The lefty retired the next two hitters to end the inning unscathed.

TCU finally broke the game open in the seventh, picking up two runs on three hits for a 3-0 lead. Cody Jones doubled to begin the seventh and moved to third on a Connor Wanhanen bunt single. Odell laced a double to left field to drive in the first run and Crain collected his second RBI of the game with a grounder to second.

Two more runs crossed the plate for the Frogs in the eighth as the lead grew to five. Dane Steinhagen singled with one out and moved to third on Jones' second double of the game. Wanhanen made it 4-0 with a ground out. Odell capped the scoring with his third hit of the night, driving in Jones to account for the final score.

TCU (15-2) and UT Pan American (10-7) will conclude the midweek series Wednesday night at 6:30. Tyler Alexander will start for the Horned Frogs and face the Broncs' Brandon San Nicolas.
