No. 9/11 Kansas 64, TCU 61
Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center
TCU head coach Trent Johnson
On what they've improved and what still needs work
"About three weeks ago, we talked about having to get some things corrected. We were getting pounded on the glass, we got that corrected these last couple of weeks. We talked about contesting shooters and running our stuff offensively. If we can get our free throws corrected and continue to guard on the half and full court, maybe we'll come in here one day and I won't look this way because we had a close loss."
On the team's resilience
"To come off the road after playing the No. 16 ranked team in the country in an overtime game and to come in here and play the No. 9 ranked team in the country, and have an opportunity to win just shows our team's resilience."
On the environment and atmosphere in Wilkerson-Greines
"It's been great, and the crowds have been great. These kids are fighting and the guy running the ship has to find more ways to help them. That's the bottom line."
TCU senior guard Kyan Anderson:
On close games
"We're just trying to find a way to get the wins at the end and make certain plays to secure victories. This is still a team that's learning how to win in situations like that, but I believe we'll get there."
On Trey Zeigler and Kenrich Williams' play
"They played big, especially towards the end. If they continue to make those plays down the stretch, we'll be fine."
Kansas head coach Bill Self
On the game as a whole
"The whole game was frustrating. I thought they played harder and obviously they were quicker to balls - they got every 50-50 ball - competed hard, and we were fortunate that they shot a low percentage and missed some free throws. It was a very frustrating game, and we're very fortunate that we won because I think that they outplayed us."
Kansas sophomore forward Landen Lucas
On how this win felt
"It's not the best feeling, but we'll take a win. We got outplayed in many ways, but we came out with the win and that's all that matters."
Kansas sophomore guard Frank Mason III
On their quality of play throughout the game
"As long as it's a win, we're happy with it. We didn't execute down the stretch. We did a lot of things wrong - the coaches weren't happy about it, and we weren't happy about it ourselves. We'll look at tape and get better at those things."
