
Nuutinen Keys TCU's Opening Round in Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico -- TCU's Sanna Nuutinen carded an even-par 72 and is tied for sixth individually as the 43rd-ranked Horned Frogs are 14th after Sunday's opening round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
TCU is playing in its first spring tournament. Nuutinen closed the fall season with a school-record 64 at the Alamo Invitational.
Nuutinen is just four strokes off the pace set by Arkansas' Emily Tubert, who shot a 4-under 68.
A senior from Helsinki, Finland, Nuutinen recorded two birdies and shot par on 14 holes.
Maria Maymon birdied two of her opening three holes and her final hole en route to a season-best 74 for TCU. The native of Huixquilucan, Mexico, is tied for 18th individually.
Kortnie Maxoutopoulis added a 79 for the Horned Frogs.
With an even-par 288, No. 8 Arkansas holds a seven-stroke lead over No. 7 Alabama. TCU shot a 308. Nine of the 15 teams in this year's Lady Puerto Rico Classic are ranked in the top 50, including six in the top 25.
Monday's second round will have a 6 a.m. CST shotgun start with live scoring available on www.Golfstat.com.
